Avatar: The Last Airbender

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

I’ve seen a few episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender at a friends house. It’s a great cartoon! I’m really surprised at how good it is, and that it’s on Nickelodeon and meant for kids. Haha. Oh well, it’s definitely a fun show to watch.

Avatar intro snapshot

It’s about Aang, the Avatar, who can master all four martial art forms: air, water, earth, and fire. He can manipulate them to do what he needs: fly, form earthen shields launch gusts of wind or water, etc. His mission: simply to save the world by reuniting the four nations (Earth, Wind, Water, Fire). For a show for kids it has a great story, in addition to the cool moves and animation (based on true martial art forms). Each season follows a story arc and each episode adds to the overall story. Very cool for a kids carton! There is a lot of great info about the show on Wikipedia.

I’m hooked!

UPDATE: According to the Wikipedia article, M. Night Shyamalan is going to make a live action movie trilogy based on this cartoon.

Automated air refueling

Check this out! DARPA is working on a software and hardware package that will let jets dock and refuel with tankers automatically! This will result in UCAV’s being able to automatically refuel in air, as well as manned jets that can take the burden off the pilot. Pretty cool!

OC Register reports on the Angels

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

I find it annoying that the only RSS feed I can get from the OC Register about Angels baseball is their feed about the whole of Orange County sports. I don’t care about basketball, football (do we even have a football team?), or soccer. I just want my Angels news!

So I took their RSS feed and using Yahoo Pipes filtered out the crap I don’t want! Pretty sweet! It only took like 3 minutes and I had the feed I wanted.

Here it is for you to enjoy as well: OC Register – Angels

The Original Pancake House – it’s ok

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Had fun with those that could make it to brunch on Saturday! We had a good time talking and catching up.

Original Pancake House - Anaheim

I just thought I’d put a note out that The Original Pancake House wasn’t all that great. I got the blueberry pancakes and a side of eggs over-hard. The pancakes were pretty good, but the eggs were covered in a layer of butter and oil. Way, way, too much for me. I like my eggs plain, and not heart attack inducing, thank you. Service wasn’t that great either. Took forever to get these little glasses of water refilled. The place was really noisy too, and so we had to nearly yell at each other to hear!

I look forward to our next brunch!

Let’s have brunch again

Monday, June 11th, 2007

Breakfast eggsAnyone who is available for brunch on Saturday, June 23rd, let me know! We haven’t done a big group brunch since February! I’m open to suggestions on where to go, but here are a couple to get you started:

OC real estate market just gets worse

Friday, June 8th, 2007

I just read the most bleak outlook yet on the OC real estate market…

If late May home-selling patterns hold for the entire month, we will have just seen the slowest selling May in DataQuick’s 20-year history of O.C. home buying. – Jon Lansner

I hope you’re not trying to sell your OC home anytime soon.

Forza 2 is a lot of fun!

Forza 2 - Turbo IS350

Phew! This game is awesome! It’s been talking up almost all of my time recently. I’m about 20% of the way through the game and probably 40% through the career mode. There’s just something about taking a car and customizing it to the point that it only resembles the original car in its body shape. Take my Turbo IS350 for example. I’ve ramped it up from it’s default class C482 to a class U999, which means its higher ranked than just about anything on the street.

That’s what happens though when you can upgrade everything from the engine block to the width of the tires. I love it!

Update: This car is rated U999 with the following stats:

  • Top Speed 7.3
  • Acceleration 7.0
  • Braking 6.1
  • Handling 5.8
  • Rarity 9.4

Here are some specs:

Forza 2 comes out tomorrow!

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

My favorite games on Xbox are either baseball or racing. I’ve been playing MLB 2K7 since it came out, but I’m ready for something new. Luckily Forza Motorsport 2 comes out tomorrow and it should be a great one!
